A Round-Table Discussion—Deciding on Outdoor Seating

Table

With no plans on the horizon for a vacation out of town, you have to make do with your beloved home for some much-needed relaxation.

But this time, you want to do a little something more. You’ve got the money, you’ve got time; so why not renovate your patio and turn it into a comfortable living space?

It’s easier than you think, especially when you consider the many options available for outdoor seating.

Are you the indecisive type? No worries. We’ll help you choose the best options for your backyard patio!

Choosing the Right Outdoor Seating

Let’s start with space.

Take the example of a small patio with a substantial garden out back; you’ll want to choose seating that doesn’t overwhelm the space. The area needs to be appropriately scaled and measured so your furniture allows enough room for easy movement.

Only add large furnishings when you have a spacious patio and an even greater garden.

Furniture Type

Design-wise, there are no rules. It’s up to you to go with whatever style and color you want.

Typically, a lot of homeowners choose to blend their outdoor and indoor design together, since it creates a better flow. However, if you want to go with something different, choose a color from your home’s interior design and put a spin on the style.

For example, let’s say you have a contemporary interior style with dark blue and white as the primary colors. Use those colors and go with a clean, sleek theme, especially by adding some accent throw pillows in a contrasting, brighter shades and colors and going with a clean, sleek theme.

Furniture Materials

Be sure about your choices in furniture material. Usually, we use teak for most of our products because it’s a dense wood. It’s also easy to maintain, water-resistant and has a certain aesthetic appeal. The only problem is that teak changes color over time. But using an outdoor patio umbrella usually takes care of that.

We would recommend other woods and metal as well, but wood requires high maintenance and metal needs to be rust-proof and UV-resistant, which isn’t always the case. Especially if you have a budget, teak would be your best choice.
